Some new old hair trends have emerged for men this spring. In the past couple of years, we’ve seen a resurgence of somewhat unconventional retro styles. 2023 is seeing its share of vintage styles making a comeback, but these styles fall into the realm of classic cuts and timeless looks. So take some inspiration from the past when choosing your hairstyle this spring and come out a winner with a dashing, debonair look that is sure to turn heads.

The Styles

Center Part- No, this is not a tousled surfer style like many have been sporting recently. The center partings you will see in spring 2023 are straight, smooth, and style. A good hair wax or gel and a fine-toothed comb will be your friends here. You want the part perfectly straight and your hair completely neat and tidy. You may also want a spritz of hair spray to keep your hair tamed and in place.

The Slamback- This one takes us back to the 1950s rock and roll era quiffs only tamed down a little. This style requires some products with excellent sculpting and holding power to pull it off and make it last. Longer hair on top gets swished and slicked back in the front for a look that just stepped out of another decade.

The Tight Fade- Everyone wants to stand out in a crowd and that is exactly what this style does. Closely clipped side and back and longer hair on top create a striking contrast. The top should be relatively short as well, just long enough to achieve the look you’re going for. This style isn’t super high maintenance on the day-to-day, but you will need regular styling appointments to keep it looking clean and tidy.

Tastefully Tousled Crop- It is quite obvious that shorter hair is in style after seeing all the buzz cuts during the 2023 Paris Men’s Fashion Week, but not every short cut has to be quite so prim and proper. A tastefully tousled crop gives you just enough messiness for a casual image, but without going over the top and leaving you looking like you just crawled out of bed. This messy crop is styled enough for the office yet relaxed enough for the weekend.

The Colors

Inky Black- Black is a deceptive color. You would think that such a basic color would be easy to pull off, but it’s not that easy to nail a true inky black. If you’re looking to go darker this jet-black color with hints of either blue or brown will add an air of sexy mystery to your image, and who doesn’t want a little more of that? 

Golden Chestnut Brown- Brunette is definitely in, but if you don’t want to go too dark this warm brown is on the lighter end of the spectrum. Hints of golden brown and auburn give this color unmatched depth and dimension. This color works well on shorter crops, but to get the full effect you might want to try a longer style.

Dimensional Ginger- If you’re looking for a unique color to help you stand out, this coppery red may be just what you’re looking for. The hints of golden blonde and earthy brown keep the color well-grounded while adding tons of dimension to this ginger shade.

Deep Honey Blonde- If you’re a brunette looking to lighten up your hair color for spring or a blonde looking to go a bit darker, this dark honey shade is perfect for you. It’s not as dark as a light golden brown, and not as light as a true blonde either. It’s the perfect middle-ground color to bridge the gap between blonde and brunette.
